OUR PASTORS
Nic & Melissa Dykstra
We moved to Elizabethton in 2022 with a dream to build a local church for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom. Together, we have been serving in the local church for well over a decade with our family. It’s our heart to see lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
If you are looking for a church, need a fresh start, or have questions about what it looks like to follow Jesus, our doors are open. Our hope is that you would come worship God with us, be equipped in your faith, and help us to advance God’s kingdom here in Appalachia and around the world.
We’d love to meet you. Come visit us this Sunday!
God Bless,
Nic & Melissa Dykstra
Who We Are
We exist to see families, neighborhoods, and nations transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.
-
To Worship God, Equip the Church, and Advance the Kingdom.
-
We are overseen by the leadership council of our parent church (The Assembly) and our partnership with the Assemblies of God.
What We Believe
We hold to historic teachings of Christian orthodoxy as articulated in the Apostles Creed, the Nicene Creed, and are in alignment with the Assemblies of God.
-
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen
-
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen

Our Doctrinal Statements
-
We believe that the Bible, every word of both the Old and New Testament, is the God-breathed, infallible, and inerrant Word of God in the original manuscripts. They were written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit through human authors, and have supreme and final authority for all matters of life and doctrine. The Bible is clear to all who seek God’s will and are willing to live by it, though the human mind is finite and fallen in its reading of it.
-
We believe in One holy Triune God, Maker of heaven and earth, who has revealed Himself as three distinct but equal Persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Persons of the Trinity are of One divine substance, co-equally; uncreated, immeasurable, eternal, and almighty. We worship Their Trinity in Unity and Their Unity in Trinity.
-
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is fully and truly God, and is fully and truly man.
He is a distinct Person from the Father and the Holy Spirit, yet of the same substance, two natures in One Person (divine and human). He is of the same substance with the Father according to His deity, He is of the same substance with us according to His humanity, like us in
all things except sin. He is eternally God, begotten before time, who was incarnate as human, conceived of the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He resurrected and ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father, to be the Mediator between God and man; the Prophet, Priest, and King. He is interceding for His people in the presence of the Father. Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ.
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity. He is a distinct Person from the Father and the Son, yet of the same divine substance, fully God. He has been sent by the Father and the Son, as the Agent of Salvation, to glorify Christ, convict the world of sin, regenerate new life in sinners who repent and believe, and equip the Body of Christ with gifts for the common good. In Him we are baptized into union with Christ and adopted into the family of God. He indwells all believers, testifying of our salvation, and progressively works in believers to help us in our weakness, lead us into all truth, and enables us to live bold fruitful, Christ-like lives.
-
We believe that humankind was created in the image and likeness of God, but voluntarily rebelled in sin when seduced by the temptations of Satan, falling short of God's glory and righteousness. Sin is the willful transgression of the law of God and deserves death. The fall of man incurred a penalty of physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God. All human beings are united with Adam in sin by nature and by choice. Human sin has rendered all of us subject to God's wrath, and has resulted in alienation from God, suppression of God's truth, and hostility to God's law.
-
We believe that man’s only hope of redemption is found in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. We believe Jesus died the death we deserved and that He has made salvation available to us through His death, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God the Father. Salvation is offered freely to all mankind through the gospel of Jesus Christ. This redemption must be received by repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ, who shed his blood. Those who receive God’s offer of grace by faith are born again, justified, regenerated, adopted into the family of God, made heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit, and become partakers of eternal life which is to come.
-
We believe in the continuation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The charismata has continued since the Apostolic age and did not cease. The purpose of the Gifts of the Spirit is to equip the Church to advance the Kingdom of God until Christ returns, as well as give us a foretaste of life to come. All believers should seek God in prayer for the gifts of the Spirit to operate in their lives, and they should be practiced with order and in love.
-
We believe marriage is God ordained and is defined in Scripture as a covenant relationship between one man and one woman. As a result, we only recognize marriage between a biological man and a biological woman. Marriage is sacred, and we believe that the solemnization of marriage between men and women of the same sex is sinful and contrary to the Word of God.
-
We believe that humankind was created in the image and likeness of God. From the beginning, God created two separate and distinct binary sexes: male and female. He created them good and sinless, equal in dignity and worth, with distinct and complementary roles and functions according to God’s established order for marriage, family, and the local church.
-
We believe that all people from every tribe, tongue, nation, and ethnicity are equally created in the image of God and are equally loved by God without partiality or favoritism. Racial and ethnic prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism is evil and the result of sin. We believe God desires all humanity to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. Through Christ, we have become one people. The Church has been mandated to bring this Gospel to our neighbors and nations.
-
We believe that all human beings are created in God’s image and that their lives are sacred and valuable. Full personhood begins at conception and continues until death. We have a responsibility from God to protect the worth and dignity of human life from conception until death. We are opposed to the taking of innocent lives in all forms, including abortion and euthanasia.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, God’s special possession,
that you may declare the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
